One Night, Every NHL Team: The 2026 Hockey Marathon

One Night, Every NHL Team: The 2026 Hockey Marathon

The NHL’s Frozen Frenzy returns Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, with all 32 clubs playing across one packed evening. Sixteen games, staggered starts, and constant coverage on ESPN create a fast-moving snapshot of the 2026–27 season, from early championship hopefuls to teams already facing difficult questions.

The schedule begins at 6 p.m. ET and unfolds in 15-minute intervals before shifting west for the late games. Fans can follow the full slate through NHL Power Play on the ESPN App, while ESPN’s main channel presents a tripleheader built around three headline matchups.

How the 16-Game Night Unfolds

ESPN’s featured broadcast starts with the New Jersey Devils visiting the Detroit Red Wings at 6 p.m. ET. The Colorado Avalanche then meet the Dallas Stars at 8:30 p.m., followed by the Boston Bruins against the San Jose Sharks at 11 p.m.

  • 6 p.m. ET: New Jersey Devils at Detroit Red Wings
  • 8:30 p.m. ET: Colorado Avalanche at Dallas Stars
  • 11 p.m. ET: Boston Bruins at San Jose Sharks

ESPN2, Disney+, and the ESPN App will also carry five hours of whip-around programming hosted by John Buccigross and Kevin Weekes. The format is designed for viewers who want to move between games as goals, injuries, milestones, and late drama develop around the league.

Last season’s event showed how quickly the night can become unpredictable. The 2024 edition produced 109 goals in 16 games, visiting teams finished 9-6-1, and five contests required overtime or a shootout.

Eastern Conference Pressure Points

Boston enters the spotlight with David Pastrnak wearing the captain’s “C,” becoming the 28th player in Bruins history to receive the honour. His production makes the appointment unsurprising: since 2022–23, he has recorded 436 points in 329 games, including 254 goals, while Pavel Zacha trails him by 206 points over that span.

Detroit brings a more turbulent storyline. Dylan Larkin asked for a trade while five years remained on his contract, and the Red Wings removed him as captain after he returned. The situation became even more uncomfortable when home fans booed him while he watched from the stands in street clothes, although Montreal supporters later greeted him with chants calling for his return.

Several other Atlantic Division games carry their own weight:

  • Buffalo faces Montreal after Alex Newhook’s overtime goal in Game 7 eliminated the Sabres last spring.
  • Florida has placed brothers Brady and Matthew Tkachuk together on a line centred by Sam Bennett, while Aleksander Barkov and Brad Marchand remain unavailable.
  • Tampa Bay’s Nikita Kucherov, the reigning two-time Hart Trophy winner, faces the Rangers after New York opened the season with a 5-1 victory over the Lightning.
  • Toronto is turning to 18-year-old Gavin McKenna, who responded to a subdued debut by collecting four points in his next three games.

In the Metropolitan Division, Carolina has established itself as the early team to beat after collecting 11 of 14 available points. Sebastian Aho has led the attack with six goals and five assists, and the Hurricanes will see Washington again after the Capitals handed them their only regulation defeat.

New York’s outlook changed sharply when goaltender Igor Shesterkin suffered a season-ending knee injury in his fifth game. The Rangers now rely on 24-year-old Dylan Garand. Philadelphia faces a different kind of crisis after opening 0-7, with fans directing “Fire Tocchet!” chants at the club before its meeting with Seattle.

Washington supplies the evening’s emotional storyline. Alex Ovechkin has said the season will be his final campaign with the Capitals, and the NHL’s all-time leading goal scorer has already opened his account.

Western Conference Stars and Second Chances

The Western matchups feature several players chasing major milestones. Vegas centre Jack Eichel has exploded for 12 points in six games and is pursuing the first 100-point season in Golden Knights history. San Jose’s Macklin Celebrini, only 20, arrives after a 115-point season and a fourth-place finish in the MVP voting.

Edmonton looks like one of the conference’s strongest contenders under new coach Mike Babcock. Connor McDavid and the Oilers must deal with a deep Utah Mammoth lineup, adding another test to an already demanding early schedule.

  • Patrick Kane returns to Chicago, where he won three Stanley Cups.
  • Sidney Crosby enters the night without a goal through six games, despite recording two assists.
  • Winnipeg is coping with Connor Hellebuyck’s suspension and has received strong goaltending from Stuart Skinner, who owns a .920 save percentage.
  • Vancouver’s Elias Pettersson has generated optimism with eight points in seven games.
  • Dallas is watching Jason Robertson closely as the pending free agent builds his case for a significant contract.

With every franchise on the ice and games beginning throughout the evening, Frozen Frenzy is less a single matchup than a league-wide viewing experience. It offers a concentrated look at every contender, concern, breakout, and developing storyline before the season has had time to settle.

Why Online Plinko Swings Between Calm and Chaos

Online Plinko turns a familiar pegboard into a rapid casino game. A ball begins at the top, ricochets through staggered rows, and finishes in a bottom slot assigned to a multiplier. The round may end within seconds, but the settings behind each drop strongly affect how stable or unpredictable the results feel. The concept is […]

How Milwaukee Turned a Long Wait Into a World Series Run

The Milwaukee Brewers are returning to the World Series for the first time since 1982 after completing a remarkable four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Their 6-4 victory at Dodger Stadium in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series erased an early four-run deficit and ended the title hopes of the two-time defending […]
